Manchester United Women defender Jess Simpson has joined WSL2 side Southampton on loan for the 2025/26 season.
The 20-year-old, who made her Reds debut against Everton in the Women’s League Cup last term, will gain more senior experience with the Saints, following two separate spells with Bristol City.
Simpson came through the youth system at United, winning the league and cup at Under-21 level before signing professional terms in January 2023.
Her first stint with the Robins, in 2023, was cut short after she suffered an anterior-cruciate ligament injury.
Having completed her rehabilitation, Jess returned to the south-west earlier this year and played nine times for City in the second tier, as they finished sixth.
She was involved for us in the World Sevens tournament held in Portugal during May, scoring in the game against Paris Saint-Germain, which United won on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Jess will now join up with Simon Parker’s side ahead of the new campaign, which begins in September.
Everybody at United would like to wish Jess all the best for her loan on the south coast.
