Some tickets for the Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are on sale online for the exorbitant fee of 23,000.
To make matters worse, the company selling the tickets at this fee is part-owned by Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly.
The showpiece event will take place next Wednesday in Bilbao, Spain at the San Mames stadium.
There have already been reports that the Basque city is bracing itself for a huge invasion of English fans from both clubs and that hotel space has already been fully occupied.
It has been stated that many fans will travel to the city without a ticket and hope to come across one on the day of the match.
The Sun newspaper has warned that some fans may need to pay an absolutely eye-watering amount to watch the game.
The outlet states, “Europa League final tickets are being flogged for 23,000 on Vivid Seats – a company part-owned by Chelsea’s Todd Boehly.”
Both Premier League teams have been allocated 15,000 seats each, with the cheapest ticket costing around 34.
It is also reported that “tickets for the general public are split into three categories, with the face value prices between 55 and 204.”
Nonetheless, tickets available for sale on Boehly’s Vivid Seats company are charging 22,738 for “Prime” seats which are along the half-way line.
“Other options are available, with some tickets on sale in Category 1 for up to 17,054.”
Chelsea’s own Supporters Trust have taken issue with their owner’s connection to the company in the past.
In an open letter to the Premier League in March, they labelled Boehly’s connection with Vivid Seats as “totally inappropriate” and claimed that it “significantly undermines” the fight against ticket touting in English football.
