Most fans and pundits have often pointed to Rasmus Hojlund’s inability to find the back of the net as the main reason why Manchester United have struggled this season.
But as Bruno Fernandes pointed out, the attacking players as a collective have underperformed and the Dane has often had a lack of service to help him find the back of the net.
And that is something Ruben Amorim is keen to fix with plenty of outlets claiming the Red Devils are interested in a blockbuster swoop for Paris Saint-Germain’s Desire Doue.
But Teamtalk have now revealed that arch-rivals Manchester City are contemplating submitting an offer for the Frenchman who has been on fire this season.
Doue in demand PSG, who acquired his services from Rennes for 50 million just last summer, have no intention of letting him leave so soon and have slapped a 100 million price tag on his head to ward off suitors.
Even though the 20-time English league champions are interested in the hotshot, such a price tag means he is currently out of reach.
“Manchester City are considering a statement move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Desire Doue, while Manchester United and two other Premier League sides are also keen on the youngster, TEAMtalk understands.
“TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that Man City are very interested in him. Pep Guardiola is personally a big admirer of Doue and wants to bring him to the Etihad. We understand that City scouts have been watching Doues performances closely in the last few months, attending several of PSGs recent matches.
City vs United for Doue “Sources close to the situation have informed TEAMtalk that PSG would only listen to offers starting from 100m (85m) for Doue, which is over double what PSG paid to sign him from Rennes last summer.
“We understand that Man Utd have also shown interest in the teenager, but their PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules) situation makes his price tag too high for them at the moment. Chelsea and Arsenal, meanwhile, who tried to sign Doue before his move to PSG, regret missing out on his signing and could reignite their interest.”
The 19-year-old has 13 goals and 12 assists this season, with a goal involvement roughly every 100 minutes, an incredible statistic for someone so young.
He is focussed on trying to help PSG win their maiden Champions League crown and it seems a summer move will be difficult for either Manchester side to pull off.
