Mason Mount is reportedly returning to Manchester United after a three-month injury absence.
Mount was forced off just 14 minutes into the Manchester derby on December 15 with an issue and was replaced by Kobbie Mainoo in the XI.
It later emerged that Mount had suffered a hamstring injury and was set to be sidelined for several weeks as he underwent recovery.
Now, Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic reveals that the England international is returning to training.
According to Whitwell, “United have been careful with the 26-year-old due to his issues since joining the club in July 2023, and have taken their time to bring him back into full sessions.”
“Mount is not expected to be ready to feature against Real Sociedad on Thursday but his reintegration to the squad is a sign he is nearing action again.”
Whitwell notes that Ruben Amorim would like to have Mount available for the season run-in, due to his suitability in the No. 10 role, both on and off the ball.
This has been reiterated by The Telegraph’s James Ducker who wrote on X, “Mason Mount returning to training as per Larie Whitwell.”

The match against City, where he sustained an injury, was only Mount’s fourth Premier League start of the season.
He has played 12 times in total this season, including in the Community Shield. His time at Old Trafford has been hampered by injuries, keeping him from nailing down a consistent run of games and performances.
The 26-year-old started only five matches during his first season with United after joining from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
He missed five months of last season with thigh and calf injuries and had already missed a good chunk of the ongoing campaign with hamstring and head setbacks.
Hopefully, Mount can now finally get his United career going.
