Fans have the chance to own a match-worn shirt from Manchester United Legends’ charity match against Celtic as part of our MatchWornShirt online auction.
The Reds played out an exciting second leg from the double header against the Bhoys this afternoon at Celtic Park, following on from the initial tie at Old Trafford last year, which saw the visitors triumph on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
This edition also ended level after normal time (2-2), and Celtic were again the victors via a spot-kick shootout.
All shirts from the fixture are being auctioned in aid of Manchester United Foundation – the associated charity of Manchester United. Founded in 2007 as a lasting tribute to the Busby Babes, the Foundation delivers community outreach and education programmes to help young people in Manchester and other outreach areas in the United Kingdom to build a better life for themselves, by providing unique opportunities which extend far beyond just the football pitch. By day, this includes working in more than 70 partner schools, while by night, free community football sessions are delivered for young people at more than 20 locations in areas of the highest social deprivation.
Champions League winner Nani was among the squad for a Legends match for the first time for the Celtic Park visit, and was been joined by plenty of his former team-mates, including Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher.
Shirts from each of the Reds involved – plus one from manager Bryan Robson – are included in the auction, and will feature the corresponding players’ name to the back of the shirt and their hand-signed autograph. All shirts also feature printing to the front and centre, commemorating the date and opponent from this special fundraising fixture.
There is also a Manchester United shirt signed by all players from the squad up for grabs through the auction.
