Manchester United Women forward Keira Barry has joined Sunderland on loan, until 31 December.
The 20-year-old signed a contract extension over the summer, running until June 2026.
She featured in the Women’s Sevens tournament in Portugal in May and also travelled on the trip to Sweden last month, as Marc Skinner’s side progressed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with victories over PSV Eindhoven and Hammarby.
Keira was brought off the bench late on against PSV, for her first United appearance since December 2022, and will now gain further experience with the Wearsiders, who finished seventh in the Championship last term, before it was rebranded as WSL2.
This will be her second senior loan spell, after a move to Crystal Palace for the 2023/24 season.
She was part of the Eagles squad which gained promotion to the top-flight for the first time in their history, although her campaign was disrupted by injury.
Jess Simpson, Lucy Newell and Emma Watson have already agreed season-long loan deals during this summer window, joining Southampton, Birmingham City and Palace respectively.
Good luck for the rest of the year with Sunderland, Keira!
