Manchester United Women’s keeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has been nominated for the PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year award.
The American keeper had the daunting task of replacing Mary Earps between the sticks this season after she left for Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Tullis-Joyce rose to the occasion and kept an incredible 18 clean sheets in 30 games this season.
She helped United to the second best defensive record in the division, as they only conceded 16 goals in 22 matches.
Her hard work was rewarded as she was given her debut for the United States national team earlier this year against Brazil.
The club’s official website states, “Manchester United Women’s goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has been nominated for the PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year award.”
“She shared the Golden Glove for the WSL campaign with Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, whilst also being named in the division’s Team of the Season.”
The winner of the award will be announced on August 19 and five other candidates have also been nominated alongside her, including former Red Devil Alessia Russo for Arsenal.
She will also go up against Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey, Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert and Manchester City duo Mary Fowler and Yui Hasegawa.
Tullis-Joyce has already won the Players’ Player of the Year award from the club after her outstanding season.
Her importance to the team has been underlined in her agreeing a new deal in the spring that will see her stay at the Leigh Sports Village until at least 2028.
United Women’s manager Marc Skinner has also lavished her with praise, labelling her as one of the best keepers in the world.
