How the Reds can guarantee Champions League qualfication

Manchester United have three games left of the 2024/25 Barclays Women’s Super League season and could seal UEFA Champions League qualification soon.
The Reds have been battling with Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea throughout, with all four teams harbouring hopes of the title at the start of the campaign.
United are currently third in the division, two points behind the second-placed Gunners and five below the reigning champions – although Sonia Bompastor’s team have a game in hand on every team in the league apart from Crystal Palace.
While our 0-0 stalemate at West Ham did not give the Reds the three points we wanted, getting a point against the Hammers has put Marc Skinner’s on the cusp of Champions League qualification, given what other results occurred across the Easter weekend.
Man City, the league’s fourth-placed side, had the opportunity to close the gap on United after our draw on Saturday but could not take that chance.
Our local rivals were held to a 1-1 tie at home to Everton, as Toffees defender Karen Holmgaard cancelled out Kerstin Casparij’s earlier opener at the Joie Stadium.
The result leaves City seven points behind United, with the clubs still to play each other in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
We face Chelsea on Wednesday 30 April at Leigh Sports Village, knowing that three points against the Blues would guarantee at least third place and Champions League qualification.
City travel to Leicester three days prior and defeat for our local rivals against the Foxes would mean the Reds’ top-three finish would be confirmed even before that midweek LSV clash.
If Man City draw or win, however, United could confirm Champions League qualification in our Old Trafford Manchester derby against them, on Sunday 4 May (12:00 BST).
