Manchester United Women booked our spot in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final for a third year in succession following a wonderful 2-0 win over Manchester City.
Two goals in the first half from Celin Bizet and Grace Clinton made sure of the victory, with plenty of Reds standing out across the 90 minutes.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce made a miraculous double save, Jayde Riviere was an ever-present rock at the back, but who else stood out for Marc Skinner’s side?
We can now declare our winner of the Player of the Match award, after a hard-fought battle against City that brought the potential for even more success.
In third place with 14 per cent of the vote was Bizet, who opened the scoring in fine fashion after just six minutes played.
The Norway international brilliantly created the opening with a wonderful turn and finish inside the area, having been teed up by Ella Toone.
Smashing the ball past Khiara Keating, Bizet is worth of a podium finish after another impressive display in Red.
In second place and narrowly missing out was Tullis-Joyce, who will long be remembered for her antics in the second half.
Leaping into the air to tip Yui Hasegawa’s free-kick onto the crossbar, Tullis-Joyce then kept out Lily Murphy’s headed rebound, before punching the air in celebration.
The 28-year-old has been an ever-present in goal this season and with just a few games to go until the end of the term, her performances have not gone unnoticed.
But our runaway winner with 26 per cent was Ella Toone who shone throughout as she does time and time again for United.
Setting up Bizet’s opener, Toone’s relentless work in midfield didn’t go without praise as she persistently quelled City’s attacks.
It was another standout display from our no.7 with Skinner also leaping to praise Ella in his post-match press conference too.
