Manchester United go into next week’s Europa League quarter-final second leg with it still all to play for against Lyon, after we drew 2-2 at the Groupama Stadium.
The pendulum of the game swung back and forth, with the Reds coming back from a goal down to lead, only to concede an equaliser to the hosts in the dying moments.
Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee both got on the scoresheet for Ruben Amorim’s side, Kobbie Mainoo made an impactful return from injury off the bench, and other members of our team impressed in France.
After the game, we ran a poll for fans to vote on which player they thought stood out most at the Groupama Stadium, and two sat above their team-mates.

Another energetic and industrious display from our skipper gained him 42 per cent of our fan vote.
Second in the poll was Yoro. Leny looks better and better with every game.
The Frenchman put in another assured performance on the left side of Amorim’s defence, making some crucial tackles and carrying the ball out of the back to start our attacks.
As the first half was coming to a close, the 19-year-old reacted well and rose high to head in his first-ever United goal to haul us level at 1-1. Leny gained 34 per cent in our post-match vote.
Zirkzee was also impactful off the bench in terms of his overall play, linking up with his team-mates and working hard to win the ball back. He got eight per cent in our poll.
Mainoo made his injury return as a substitute and played a key role in Josh’s goal, showing great bravery to head the ball to Bruno, before our skipper bent in a delightful cross.
Other notable figures in the United team were Harry Maguire – who made countless interceptions in important moments – and the ever-dependable Noussair Mazraoui.
But it was our skipper who was the standout man for the Reds in Lyon.
